Hi, my name is Jess!
As a 1st-class Songwriting and Music Production graduate from LIPA, I am able to help as a guide and professional advisor if you are navigating the rigours of A-Level Music Technology or finalising a University-level portfolio!
I currently work full-time as a primary school teacher, and have had experience teaching children from ages 4 to 16 through teaching and private tutoring, and I have also supported lots of children with special educational needs to develop their musical learning.
Beyond the classroom, my career is rooted in freelance production and collaborative songwriting. I can use my expertise to advise transitioning raw demos into polished, professional tracks. My approach isn't just about "teaching"; it's about acting as a creative consultant to help you.
With a PGCE, a Music degree and a background in classical piano, jazz, and pop, I understand the specific marking criteria for Music exams, but I also know what makes a hit song resonate lyrically and musically.
My biggest achievement so far has been winning the 2020 Songlink Prize for the Best Song - Musically and Lyrically!
With this first-hand experience, I have been able to confidently offer my expertise through our production sessions and provide a supportive, relaxed producing experience for any music tech students!

Sometimes you need a second pair of professional ears to hear your up-and-coming creations, and that's where I come in!
Whether you are producing music as a hobby, working as an independent artist or finalising a degree-level portfolio, I provide the expert mentorship needed to get your projects sounding music-industry ready!
As a Music Production Tutor/Advisor, I will help you to:
- Navigate Logic Pro as our main DAW for efficient, professional sessions.
- Assist in experimenting with frequency, dynamics, and spatial placement to create a balanced, professional-sounding mix.
- Advise on capturing high-quality vocals using my vocal health expertise.
- Use any marking criteria and technical feedback to ensure your portfolio is striving for a high-quality project.
My 1-hour sessions will be broken down into:
Project Audit (10 mins): We review your current project file, identifying areas of development to advise on.
Deep-Dive Production (40 mins): Hands-on work in the DAW. We will tackle specific challenges - from sidechain compression and parallel processing to vocal tuning and arrangement.
Action Plan & Export (10 mins): We bounce the latest version and set specific technical goals for your independent study.
