About Joseph
Joseph David Spence is a composer and saxophonist based in Glendale, CA. His most recent ventures in media composition include composing for the Worlds Beyond Number podcast and SkyForge Studio’s Rangers On Patrol. In addition to film music, Spence’s concert music has been performed throughout the United States and internationally by such ensembles as the Donald Sinta Quartet and KC VITAs. You can find more of his work on YouTube and your favorite music streaming platform.
As a saxophonist, Spence is the tenor saxophonist for the Gold Line Quartet. His teachers include some of the most respected saxophonists in America: Carrie Koffman and John Hallberg.
Spence holds a Master's Degree in Saxophone Performance and Composition from the University of Hartford, The Hartt School, and a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University, Fullerton.

With over ten years of experience, my teaching method is custom to the needs of each student. I can teach at any level, whether you're just beginning your musical journey or are preparing for the big audition, I can help you achieve your goals. Each lesson focuses on three aspects at all times: technique, sound, and repertoire.
If you'd like to experience other genres such as jazz or pop, improvisation is another cornerstone of my curriculum.
