About Cathy
I am a playwright by trade working in Manchester, England. I am a 54-year-old autistic woman who is very much part of the creative scene in my city. I have been a writer for 20 years. I sometimes write community outreach work and sometimes develop large-scale pieces- and everything in between. I have written over 35 plays. As a writer, my work is funny and moving at the same time. I want to be able to help you unlock your creative potential and excavate your imagination. I'm not here to help you gain qualifications. I'm here to help you tell stories. Whether that is for a circuit break from study, as a cathartic way of playing out narrative, to move confidently into a writing career or just to colour life.

I use a circuit break method of stretching people's imagination to exercising the creative side of the brain. I don't teach based on learning about plays, poetry and writers, I teach based on developing your own creative voice. And in this way I have been a successful mentor of writers for stage, TV and film. Scriptwriting- story world, 3D character building, authentic dialogue, generating ideas from different starting points. Being a pro-active maker and confidently generating writer-led ventures. Poetry- building a collection, experimenting with voice, stretching narrative ideas. Reviews and non-fiction work- I teach this in order to develop your particular voice and depth of storytelling in non-fiction writing.
