Professor Moon is genuinely one of the most kind people I have ever met, and taking her courses at UCSD left a huge impact on my life. It's so obvious how much she cares for her students, and she always took the time one on one to help us find our fire and passion. Beyond the many great book recommendations, she gently pushed all of her students to dive deeper into what we loved by providing resources and time for us. I left her classroom inspired.

I met Professor Moon at UC San Diego where she was my writing professor. Professor Moon was an amazing professor who always took into account our mental health and well being. Many of my peers, including myself are engineering majors or STEM majors meaning that our courses were quite rigorous. Professor Moon took this into account and gave us plenty of resources to manage our mental health, and even extended deadlines only when it was necessary for our mental health. However, what separates Professor Moon from other professors is her compassion that she has for her students. She left UC San Diego for personal reasons, but made the effort to reach out to me and my peers following the protests going at UC San Diego. She made sure we were okay and always made herself easy to contact. Not only that, but her skill in writing and ability to articulate feedback to help us not only made me enjoy writing, but it also made me a much better writer compared to when I first stepped into her classroom.

Julie is the best! One of the most serious and committed educators I know. I taught alongside her for several years, and she is a caring and empathetic instructor excited to connect with and broaden the horizons of the students she works with.
