About Meghan
Hi, I'm Meg! Having graduated from SUNY New Paltz with my B.S. in Mathematics, I am returning to graduate school to get my Master's in Mathematics Adolescent Education. I graduated with Honors and Summa Cum Laude all in only 5 semesters of college. I have succeeded from a lot of discipline and organized study skills-- which I am willing to share! I have been tutoring since high school, but I have been professionally tutoring mathematics for 3+ years at my university, helping students in a wide range of classes. My skill set caters to students in grades 7-12 and some college-level courses (Calc 1-3, proof courses, etc.). I also do SAT Math preparation. Most of my students have returned and requested my assistance throughout multiple sessions. They enjoy my encouraging and bright personality, coupled with my ability to keep on task and diligently get through the material. Students have noted to me that they appreciate the simple ways I break all lessons into small steps and build upwards. I recognize that mathematics isn't a topic enjoyed by everyone-- trust me, I get it, I struggled with it when I was younger, too. I know how stressful it can be to manage a work-life balance and still succeed in hard courses. Many of my former students have been vulnerable with me about these struggles, getting flustered over math, and I kept them calm and collected during lessons. I reassure everyone that they will succeed, as that is my goal as a future educator.

As a private tutor, I will provide you or your child with thoughtfully and uniquely planned lessons in mathematics. Before our first lesson, I will require information on what course, grade level, any relevant learning disabilities, and the current lesson topic/topics my client struggles with. I have experience with students in special education. A typical lesson will start with a brief review of previous topics we have discussed, a lesson on the current topic, and guided practice (various worksheets, practice problems, and activities). I will work with each student as an individual, adapting lesson plans to my students' learning ability and style. My style is simple: taking everything one step at a time. Math is a topic that everyone can learn with simple steps. As my student grows more confident, we can gradually build up to taking larger steps and moving at a quicker pace. If a student still struggles with a topic, I have no problem working on it or going back to it until they fully grasp it.
