About Andrew
I'm currently in my second year of Health Sciences (BHSc) at Queen's University, and I have over 3 years of experience tutoring high school students with various subjects including mathematics, chemistry, physics, and biology. I initially started out as a volunteer tutor at my own high school, and I've worked with students of various grades across many different subjects (listed above). Having recently graduated high school I totally understand the academic pressure and difficulties you might be feeling. As a tutor, my main focus is making sure that you can effectively understand and apply concepts, which will help you perform better on tests and assignments in class. My approach is identifying and emphasizing parts that you may struggle with, and continually working on them in order to help you gain confidence. I usually do personalized one-on-one virtual sessions over Zoom (or whatever platform works best for you). I also try and adapt my teaching around the learning styles that work best for you (i.e. verbal, visual, or reading/writing). Depending on your subject, I'll create a scheduled learning plan and also find practice materials (especially for practicing weak areas). As a recent undergrad student (currently in my second year) I think that I more closely understand and relate to the needs and experiences of high school students. I have a pretty flexible schedule as well so I can more easily accommodate you as needed. I have previously tutored Ontario high school students in all grades (9-12) for math, biology, chemistry, and physics.
