About Alfredo
I was born in Havana, Cuba, where I completed my degree in Hispanic language and literature with a specialty in Latin American literature.
I have worked not only as a professor in different academic institutions but also as an advisor and editor for Cuban publishing houses such as Arte y Literatura, Caminos and Union.

Depending on the student's interest and level, but usually both vocabulary and communication skills are my main focus.
My lessons are for students with some skills looking to improve their level in Spanish, but I can also take students with little or no skills.
My teaching methods and techniques are inspired by the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire (popular education). It requires a high level of participation of each student. It is not the classic method of a teacher invested with a "supreme" power. Socrates did basically the same thing in ancient Greece.
I basically work on the following areas of knowledge with the students. -Oral/written comprehension exercises -Semantic exercises -Development of phonetic/phonological skills in the Spanish language
I use many tools, my favorites ones are music, literature and Latin American art, specially from Cuba, Mexico & Argentina.
