About Nancy
My name is Nancy and I have loved mathematics since I could even say the number 'one'. I understand even uttering the word mathematics can be scary for many people, and I really just desire to help people recognize their limitless abilities. Anyone can do mathematics. I want everyone to understand they are capable of finding a love for mathematics once they realise that success is being the best version of yourself. This means that you will learn at your own pace and never compare yourself to others. I strive to connect with each student and make learning mathematics enjoyable in a safe environment.

I provide lessons for students of all levels and ages. I have been trained in every level including exam prep, arithmetic, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, probability and statistics, calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. I can teach ages as early as five up to University level students.
I believe that the best way to learn mathematics is to apply it to the things you take interest in every day life, whether that be science, finance, nature, cars, literature, etc. I strive to tailor my lessons to fit the need of the individual I am working with. First, I like to determine learning styles, whether that be visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. Once this is determined, I will start lessons with a warm up of the day and we will then continue the lesson for the day. Depending on the length of the lesson, we will spend the last quarter of the session with any school assignment questions that need assistance.
An initial lesson will be one hour to allow for enough time to engage with the student , but the lesson lengths following will be completely up to the student/guardian in what they feel is best for their learning.
I hold a BSc in Applied Mathematics and I have tutored mathematics for over two years. I worked in a centre called 'Mathnasium' where I taught students as early as five up to University students aged 22 in areas ranging from basic arithmetic, to geometry, statistics, algebra, calculus, and many more. I also worked as a tutor in my university math centre and lecture halls helping students with linear algebra, probability, calculus, and differential equations. Throughout both jobs, I learned new techniques each week to improve both professional and interpersonal skills such as how to effectively communicate with a student, how to be more approachable, and asking questions that encourage thinking about the problem on a wider scale.
