About Jake
I graduated Carleton University with a BEng. in Biomedical-Mechanical Engineering. From there I went on to work in pharmaceutical facilities doing process engineering, and have since moved into the design space, solving peoples manufacturing problems by developing custom turn-key equipment.
My job is my passion, I love knowing how to translate between the real world and the world of math and science! Gaining new insights into nature and the world around us is the essence of engineering, yet we are never taught to understand the tools we must use, only that they exist. Thats when I decided that I would help break down what many perceive as a barrier to certain jobs and careers into understandable bite sized chunks that actually make sense.

Its my job to interpret the world around us to make new technologies. I take problems and turn them into math to solve them.
Having graduated an accredited engineering program, I know just how important it is to UNDERSTAND the equations and the operations, and not just remember them.
I will help you learn to translate between the real world, and the languages of STEM, and in doing so, help build a greater understanding of all the symbols, operations, and numbers you encounter at school.
When you take a lesson with me, I will go from the questions you ask and analyze which part of them you haven't been taught to translate yet, and start there. STEM isn't complicated, you just haven't been shown how to interpret it!
You may also highlight your areas of concern and determine the focus for the lesson should you have specific problems you'd like to solve.
