About Magellan
I am a graduate from UC Berkeley, and majored in Anthropology. During that time I worked as an editor for Bravura (A college level literary publication) and Eleven (the Undergraduate Sociology Journal at CAL). I have extensive experience writing academic essays, constructing final projects, researching and compiling sources, and writing college admittance responses. Additionally, having grown up with two siblings who have dyslexia, I am acutely aware of just how differently (but nonetheless incredibly) students learn to process and apply new knowledge, and firmly believe in a custom-tailored approach to tutoring in which the delivery of the material, the processing of it, and the pace of learning are all specialized to best fit your needs. After graduating I taught English and History at all grade levels in Oakland and Richmond.

Lessons consist of an estimation of writing ability and potential improvements, followed by a specialized learning plan on how to top-to-bottom build an above average academic essay or response. Lessons are Middle School to College level, with a focus on essay construction and articulation. I believe all teaching must be specialized to the learners unique style of thinking, and that there must be a concerted effort to understand ones mode of processing and learning information before teaching new techniques. The lessons will be tailored to You, and will move at the pace that is appropriate.
