Find out more about Haruka

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I developed an interest in teaching both English and Japanese from a young age, growing up in different areas in Japan and being exposed to different languages and cultures in my twenties. This fascination with communication and cultural exchange led me to pursue a teaching career after graduating from a National University in Japan to become a teacher. My interest was further solidified during my extensive travels and experiences abroad, where I witnessed the power of language in connecting people from diverse backgrounds.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

What makes me passionate about teaching Japanese is the opportunity to share not only the language but also the rich history, culture, nuances of Japan with others and, most importantly, our life time ! Language is more than just words; it's a gateway to understanding different perspectives and forging meaningful connections. Seeing my students grow and succeed in their language journey fuels my passion even more, knowing that I'm contributing to their personal and professional development. This is why my students keep coming back to see me even if they graduate ! I am their mentor :)
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Tutoring allows me to personalize the learning experience for each student, catering to their unique needs and learning styles. What I love about tutoring is the direct impact I can have on my students' progress and confidence in using the Japanese language. As a "Superprof," I am committed to going above and beyond for my students, providing not only quality lessons but also ongoing support, guidance, and motivation to help them achieve their goals.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

One of my role models in teaching is the mother of Albert Einstein. Her dedication to nurturing her son's intellectual curiosity and providing him with a stimulating environment for learning has always inspired me. Despite facing numerous challenges, she recognized and cultivated Einstein's potential, emphasizing the importance of creativity, exploration, and critical thinking in education. Her unwavering support and belief in her son's abilities paved the way for his groundbreaking contributions to science. Her example reminds me of the profound impact a nurturing and supportive mentor can have on a student's journey, fueling my commitment to fostering a similar environment for my own students.
  • What are your keys to success?

There is no laughing in your class now? Yes, that' not a class. My students are so excited to have a class every single week because our classes are full of fun learning and laughing ! I will say the keys to my success as a Japanese teacher lie in continuous learning, adaptability, empathy, and dedication. I am committed to staying updated on the latest teaching methodologies and resources to provide the most effective learning experience for my students.
Being empathetic to my students' challenges and needs allows me to tailor my approach accordingly and create a positive and nurturing learning environment. Above all, my dedication to my students' growth and success drives me to constantly strive for excellence in my teaching practice. Yes, I was born to become a teacher !
