Billy is a Composer & Musician with a deep musical understanding, and interest in digging beneath the surface of a story or character to find the music’s perspective. Billy began playing Guitar and Piano at age 7, going on to complete a BA (Hons) Degree in the practice of music, in which he achieved a first. Before dedicating his time to writing to picture, Billy spent 10 years as a gigging musician, performing in an array of acts from his own originals band, function bands, and sessioning for great musicians as far as New Orleans. Since concentrating his creative output on writing music to Film and all other long format forms of storytelling, Billy has developed a strong personal voice and ability to work confidently with a production team to make their vision of the score come to life. Whilst retaining his own voice and strong creative character. Billy likes to create instruments from scratch, when he can, both for projects and just to add to an ever growing arsenal of studio equipment. His most recent creation is a 2 octave chromatic and pitched wooden percussion instrument, reminiscent of a Marimba. A multi instrumentalist, with Piano and Guitar being the strongest of his abilities, Billy can also turn his hand to Cello, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Marimba and other percussion instruments. And regularly does to bring his scores to life and avoid unnecessary use of samples.
