About Shakila
I have a first class degree in biochemistry and I am currently studying dentistry as a second degree. I’m coming from a multicultural and multilingual background and I've experienced life in different corners of the world, gaining valuable life-experiences. My life’s journey has equipped me with skills such as sensitivity to cross cultural differences, adaptability and good communication skills. I find tutoring rewarding and I see it as a hobby rather than a job as I gain a lot of joy and enthusiasm from teaching, especially when I am successful at helping a student understand a topic that they had found challenging.

I have successfully mentored for two consecutive years Y11 maths students, while at school, providing stretch and challenge in preparation for their examinations. This not only improved my listening skills but also increased my initiative as I had to find different ways to overcome the teaching difficulties.
When I first came to the UK I found myself in a challenging situation. I had 5 months to complete my GCSEs, which is a 2 year course. At last, I proved successful. I beat time, managed to overcome any language difficulties and self-taught the curriculum! I achieved 4 A* (including Maths & Biology) 2 As and a B in English language.
The reason I mentioned the above is to prove that I know how to help you in a condensed time frame. Also, to show that I have innovative teaching styles that ensures maximum efficiency as the lessons will be tailored to best fit your needs. Furthermore, I believe that everything is possible when there is a will!!
