I am an undergraduate biochemistry student at Northeastern University. I have tutored PSYCH 1101, Art History, and have received at least an A- in Genetics, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. I also took the AP Biology exam and received a 5.

I start each session by reviewing any materials that may be addressed during the session. I want to gage what the tutee's level of experience and understanding of the topic. I ask the tutee to come prepared by completing any assigned material/readings-- by making an effort to complete the material, the tutee will have more specific questions that can be addressed. It is a better use of time and can lead to an active learning process. During the session, I review topics that may not be as strong by encouraging the student to make reaction lists, ask specific questions, and even go through problems on a whiteboard. If I am unable to answer a tutee's question, I point them towards resources that will aid them (Khan Academy, "the Organic Chemistry Tutor", etc.).
