About Rebecca
I am a biology graduate from the University of Greenwich and my passion for teaching stems from my own struggles to learn at school.
As a dyslexic student, I struggled to learn from book reading at school. In order to learn effectively I had to implement different active learning strategies, which I teach to others.
Such teaching benefits not only dyslexic students, but everyone.

I like to break down topics into sub-topics, building a great foundation of knowledge and building from there. My philosophy toward tutoring is a highly tailored approach to the individual’s style of learning. Especially if the student is disabled.
I first work with the student to find out how they learn most effectively and efficiently. Then I work to find out what gaps they have in their knowledge. From there I can tailor a learning plan with actionable steps.
I check in with my students along the way to see if anything needs more attention before moving forward.
Research shows that the most effective approach to learning is applying what you have learnt, as opposed to passive learning from books. That is exactly what my tutoring involves and it helps to bridge the gap between school lessons and working knowledge which can be used in exams and later life/careers.
