About Michael
I dedicate my time to each student I work with by engaging with each student during sessions, and using diagnostic tools to provide targeted lessons to assess student progress after sessions.
In the first few sessions, I gauge a student's abilities and find areas to work on to improve. In the short term, I focus on improving grades and helping improve understanding of current material/topics from class.
As I continue to work with students, I use various assessment tools and provide targeted practice assignments for students to improve fundamental skills and fill in knowledge gaps.
Long-term students continue to work on fundamentals with consistent review, and I continue to work with these students to develop the right growth mindset and appropriate study habits so they can understand how to find and improve weaknesses on his or her own.
The end goal is that my students are confident to utilize the skills and tools we have worked on to approach a math or science problem and solve it on his or her own.

I primarily teach high school students in math and science classes, most commonly AP classes but certainly in any high school math or science class.
In my experience as a math teacher, one of the most important things I have learned is that each student learns at a different pace and has a unique learning style. I work with each student to target and strengthen weakness areas and cater to individual needs by providing personalized lessons and practice problems to help each student learn and grow.
I have a background in a demanding STEM field and several years of teaching/tutoring experience. So not only do I know the material, but I know how to relate it to students. I also understand that teaching every student is different.
