About Alan
I am an undergraduate student at York University entering my fifth year of an honours degree in Biomedical Science. Over the course of my education, I have studied a multitude of subjects in the biological and life sciences including animal physiology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, cell and molecular biology, circadian physiology, and biochemistry. I also have a foundational background in inorganic and organic chemistry, which is essential for studying biomedical science. Additionally, I have taken my education beyond the classroom through research experiences at St. Michael's Hospital, as well as at York University, where I am working this summer studying circadian biology in fungi.
I have been tutoring high school students informally for a little over two years in biology and chemistry, and have helped several students achieve higher test scores and better grades in these subjects.

My approach as a tutor involves getting to know you. In order to best help you, it's important to understand what you're good at and what you enjoy about chemistry, as well as what areas you are having trouble with or find less enjoyable. Understanding where you stand will allow us to co-create Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound (or SMART) goals to work towards across our sessions. Tutoring sessions will be more like a conversation, focused on your needs, questions, goals, etc.
