About Louis
For me personally, I need to understand why I am doing it in order to find it enjoyable. I think this is severely understated during class time, where students struggle to find the passion in order to remember anything they have been taught.
In my classes, we attack the concepts at multiple angles, with directions tailored to individual learning styles. I always make an effort to understand the concerns of individual students and their learning requirements.
People have told me I can be comforting as a tutor, but at the same time very focussed and direct in my communication style. I believe this comes from my desire to help others mixed with a need to problem solve. I chose Biotechnology as my degree as my analytical brain naturally lends itself to the sciences, where things are concrete and proven. On top of this, Biology is a wonderful subject with a huge potential for new discoveries every year.
I love to see students with a passion for science and research. If I could do anything in this world, it would be to discover something "new". In secondary school I found it hard to see how this was possible, but at university it seems more and more feasible every day.

My lessons are styled like a university lecture, but tailored to GCSE students who require extra attention and guidance.
I spend a lot of time on vital presentation slides in order to make sure I cover a topic from multiple different perspectives.
I also assign working materials that the students may find helpful, although most of my teaching is in the form of theory and discussion.
Lessons are usually 1 hour, with a work period afterwards which overlaps with a Q&A if students prefer to learn through discussion rather than practise.
I am highly qualified as a tutor:
I joined a tutoring service 2 years ago where I tutored maths and science in person. I also have experience in SEN and public schools as a teaching assistant.
My lessons are for GCSE students between year 9 and 11 (13-16) who are looking to get grade 7-9 in Maths and Science.
