About Flora Xiaoyu
Hello, I’m Flora Xiaoyu, a Boston College Computer Science graduate who has always loved the logic and beauty of math. Over the past few years, I’ve taught students from many different backgrounds, from those who felt anxious about math to those eager to reach higher levels, and I’ve seen how the right guidance can completely transform a student’s confidence. My experience in both education and technology helps me explain math in clear, patient ways that truly connect. Students often tell me that I make complex ideas feel simple and that they finally understand the “why” behind what they’re learning. I’m calm, reliable, and genuinely invested in each student’s growth. My goal is to create a learning space where every question is welcome and every small step forward is celebrated.

My lessons are designed to make math feel clear, calm, and meaningful. I guide students to understand the why behind each concept before moving to the how and what. This approach builds confidence and curiosity instead of memorization fatigue.
Each session begins with a short check-in to see where the student feels unsure. Together we break down new ideas step by step, reading the problem carefully, identifying key information, and choosing the right formula or pattern to apply. I encourage students to explain their thinking aloud so I can gently correct misconceptions and strengthen logical reasoning.
I combine clear explanations with guided practice and thoughtful exercises that fit each student’s pace. Over time we build problem-solving habits that make math less intimidating and more rewarding. My goal is for every student to finish each lesson not only understanding the topic but also feeling proud of their progress.
