About Katiuska
I'm a Brain Science PhD student at Imperial College London with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. I have over 8 years research experience (Cell & Molecular, Genetics, Biochemistry) in multiple laboratories at Stony Brook University, Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, UT Southwestern Medical Center, University of York, and Imperial College London.
I am very passionate about teaching, and my main focus is to build a strong foundational knowledge on the subject for success at higher levels.

I believe that being successful in a subject and getting good grades does not come down to memorizing, but in having a strong foundational knowledge to be able to build upon. This is why I first give a comprehensive test to all students so I know how strong their foundation on a subject is, spot where the weaknesses are, and identify what parts need to be reinforced in order to progress to more complex ideas.
I always try to relate concepts to real life scenarios to make the subject matter more relateable, but as well to develop interdisciplinary critical-thinking skills, a crucial skill needed to succeed in higher level examinations.
My experience tutoring started amongst friends when I was in high school undertaking the International Baccalaureate (IB) program with my main subjects being Biology, Chemistry, Economics, and Mathematics. This continued throughout my university years by becoming a private tutor as well as a Tutoring Assistant (TA) for Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
I offer tutoring in Biology at all levels (including GCSE, A levels, IB, and university level examinations), Chemistry and Economics up to 1st year of university, and Mathematics up to middle school.
