About Sophie
I'm extremely patient and resilient, and what I've learnt in my PhD so far is that no question is a silly one! As much as I hope my students enjoy and benefit from my lessons, I hope to also learn from them to constantly improve my approaches to a problem or topic of difficulty. I find that tutoring is also a benefit to my PhD, as often it's essential to step back, return to basics, and think laterally to avoid rabbit holes!

Initally I'll grasp an idea of the students strengths and weaknesses by attaining an idea of the covered topics and what they need help with, whether it be understanding content, feedback on a written essay or interview prep. I'm a very creative and visual learner myself, so I like to explain using diagrams and often go back to basics so the student fully understands the foundations of the content before addressing their questions.
Typical sessions will be an hour but I'm always happy to do longer sessions if needed.
I have a BSc in Biological Sciences so I can cover a wide range of biological topics. Depending on topics I may be able to tutor to degree level. I have A-levels in Mathematics, Biology and Art and achieved a high grade for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and I am happy to support students needing help with this.
