About Sam
My name is Sam, originally from Scotland but have since lived for 7 years in Australia and 3 years in Spain. I completed my BSc in Mathematics in Melbourne and then an MSc in Data Science in Barcelona. I started tutoring when I was 16 and have always done some form of teaching since. I really enjoy the process of helping a student understand topics they found impenetrable before.
I have worked in consultancy and a technology startup, but I am currently planning a move into the renewable energy sector and hence have some time between roles. Outside of studies and work, I am an avid reader, guitar player and runner.

Approach:
I take a very first principles approach to teaching mathematics and sciences that is not based on rote learning. Breaking complex ideas into simple concepts, and then applying these ideas to new problem situations is key to learning deeply. I also believe in the power of practice, feedback and error analysis
