About Alanna
Hi! My name is Alanna, and I’m currently a student at the Schulich School of Business. As a member of this highly competitive program, I understand the dedication and effort it takes to succeed in academics—and the satisfaction that comes with it. I’m excited to offer tutoring in Math and English for students in Grades 3 to 9. These are subjects I’ve excelled in, and I’m passionate about helping others build confidence and achieve their goals. My teaching approach is highly student-centered and adaptive while still being fully online via Google Meet. I believe that every learner has a unique way of processing information, so I tailor my methods to fit each student’s needs. I use a mix of: Active learning: engaging students through problem-solving, discussion, and practice. Socratic questioning: encouraging critical thinking by asking guiding questions rather than simply providing answers. Scaffolded instruction: breaking complex concepts into manageable steps and gradually removing support as the student gains mastery. Overall, students will be introduced with personalized online lessons while following the Ontario curriculum. A typical lesson plan includes homework catch-up, introduced material, tutorials and Q&A reviews.
