About Dmitriy
I am a Cambridge and LSE offer holder predicted four A* , including Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Economics. Through my own studies and tutoring experience, I have developed a strong understanding of both the subject content and what exam boards are really looking for.
I began tutoring because I noticed that many of my peers struggle not due to a lack of ability, but because concepts are not explained clearly or in an exam-focused way. Having recently sat these exams myself, I am very familiar with common mistakes, effective revision techniques, and how to approach questions efficiently under time pressure.
My teaching approach:
My lessons are structured, clear, and exam-focused. I adapt sessions to each student’s level and confidence, whether the goal is building foundations, improving problem-solving skills, or pushing for top grades.

I have experience supporting pupils in improving both confidence and exam performance. One student I worked with improved from a Grade 2 to a Grade 5 in GCSE Foundation Mathematics, achieving a pass in the final examination. I focus on steady, measurable progress and ensuring each learner fully understands the foundations before moving on.

My teaching is structured, exam-focused, and tailored to the individual student. As someone who has recently taken these exams myself, I understand both the content and the specific mistakes students commonly make, as well as how marks are actually awarded.
Rather than rushing through topics, I prioritise secure understanding of fundamentals, then build towards exam-style application. I adapt my pace and explanations to suit each learner, ensuring concepts are fully understood before moving on.
I place a strong emphasis on:

• Developing confidence alongside accuracy
• Applying knowledge effectively in exam questions
Outline of a typical lesson:
A typical lesson will follow this structure, adjusted as needed for the student:
1. Quick review
We begin by revisiting previous content or homework to identify any gaps or misconceptions.
2. Focused teaching
I introduce or reinforce a topic using clear explanations and worked examples, breaking down problems into manageable steps.
3. Guided practice
The student attempts questions with my support, allowing me to correct errors early and refine their method.
4. Exam-style application
We move on to exam-style questions, focusing on method marks, efficient working, and avoiding common pitfalls.
5. Reflection and next steps
We summarise what has been learned and identify clear targets for improvement before the next session.
