About Emma
I have studied at Queens' College Cambridge for the last two years. In this time, I have found the most effective way of teaching as emerging in one-to-one supervisions. I find that this method of tutoring, alongside classroom discussion, is fundamental to achieve excellent learning.
My tutoring sessions are inspired by the format of a typical Cambridge supervision. I encourage curious discussion, in order to create an exchange of learning. This not only improves the student's material work, but helps them to develop their critical thinking, articulate creatively, and fine tune debate skills. This creates long lasting improvement in the student's academic ability.
Outside of academia, I am passionate about public speaking, theatre, and university debate. I find that these extra-curriculars particularly contribute in my ability to encourage students through confident and clear communication.

I have been working as an academic tutor for 7 years. My areas for tutoring have covered classics, modern languages, English literature, English language, and university application.
I have tutored a range of levels, but am focussed on tutoring GCSE and A-Level students. Hence, my teaching methodology is centred around the GCSE/ A-Level syllabus. I respond directly to the student's current focus at school, and aim to work on and develop understanding in these topics.
When approaching exam season, I choose to be flexible in our study, to ensure that we are improving potentially weaker areas of understanding.
A typical lesson would stand at 1 - 1.5 hour duration.
