About Tabitha
I’m Tabitha, a recent Cambridge graduate looking to help students through the difficult stages of school: writing essays, exam periods, university admissions etc. These were some tricky periods in my life and I would like to do what I can to help current students. Most of all, however, I want to share my love of literature with others! I’m aware this is a love that can be hard to find when school feels like it is all about passing tests, so I would like to do my best to make learning about literature as interesting and relatable as it can be.

NOTICE: I am now only accepting requests for tutoring beginning 8th January or later.
Lessons are half an hour to an hour long. I am happy to teach English Literature from ages 11 to 18. I can teach GCSE and A-level especially: I would need to know in advance what exam board the student is sitting as I have the most experience with AQA. I also provide admissions help for those preparing for university, particularly applications to the University of Cambridge.
I am currently a tutor teaching English as a second language and worked for year as a youth worker at a retreat centre for school groups, where I ran sessions on my own for up to 12 young people and encountered young people with variety of different needs and personalities. I achieved high grades at GCSE, including a 7 and 8 in Eng Lang and Eng Lit, as well as AAA*A* at A level with A*s in English Literature and French. At university, I’ve achieved a high 2:1 in English Literature after a difficult few years with my disability. Because of this, I am particularly receptive to students that identify as disabled as someone that has had to make the education system adapt to meet my needs.
My approach to teaching is that different students require different styles of teaching and means of revision. While my primary strategies for teaching may be those that have worked for me studying English Literature (e.g. creating colourful revision posters and mind maps where it is easy to make links across themes), I am more than willing to adapt to what works best for my student.
