Cambridge Graduate - History, English, Maths, Chemistry - History tutor with Joseph

I taught Joe at Colchester Royal Grammar School between 2011 and 2014, and during that time saw him blossom into a historian of exceptional ability and confidence in the exposition of his ideas. In addition to his external exam studies, Joe delivered an outstanding analysis of the Spanish Civil War to the Sixth Form History Society, based on his research for the Extended Project Qualification, and I was not surprised to see him win a place at Oxford, as at the university preparation sessions he had demonstrated a sure grasp of the discipline beyond the confines of the syllabus. His college (Mansfield) took the trouble to inform us how impressed they were with Joe after his first year and the consequent award of a scholarship.
In addition to his abilities, Joe displayed other qualities that will make for an excellent tutor, among which I would single out his dedication and commitment to hard work. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I can recommend Joe wholeheartedly. I had the pleasure of teaching him History at Colchester Royal Grammar School where I was Head of History for 6 years and a classroom teacher for 22 years. He won the school's History prize in the sixth form. He contributed enthusiastically to the school's enrichment programme, mentoring/ tutoring other students and presenting to the History Society. He is mature, hard working, patient and an excellent communicator. He has always had enormous enthusiasm for the subject.
