About Olga
I am a Cambridge graduate of English and current law student. I have always had a passion for reading and writing essays.
I tutored extensively during my time at Cambridge and found it incredibly rewarding, so am very excited to meet new students and help them develop their skills in literature and language.
I believe that one-to-one tutoring gives students a safe and comfortable space to make mistakes, and have a supporting and encouraging tutor help them improve the small details of their writing, helping students of all abilities push themselves in an encouraging way. My pupils have gained confidence in themselves and have learnt that they can achieve more than what they may think.

My tutoring style is to be encouraging but structured, and push students to achieve more than they think they can. I have experience tutoring students of all abilities and have supported students in improving their grades and confidence levels.
My lessons tend to be 1 hour long, but if you are interested in doing 1 hour and 15 minute long lessons, I have found these to be quite beneficial.
My most recent GCSE students all saw incredible improvements from the start of Year 11 to their final GCSE grades: out of 6 students, 5 all achieved 8s and 9s. My final student did amazingly to achieve a grade 7, having been working at a grade 4 in November of Year 11.
A-Level English Literature develops skills learnt at GCSE. I love helping students push themselves in their analysis and essay writing. My most recent A-Level student began at a C and improved to producing model essays and achieving As.
My Oxbridge students receive personal statement and interview help, but equally as important is the programme of study I develop based on their interests which gives them a strong foundation not only to apply to Oxbridge, but to study English at an undergraduate level, bridging the gap between A-Level and university.
Interestingly, parts of my lessons worked for both GCSE and A-Level students, as the core skill when it comes to studying literature is close reading. This is the foundation of the English Language GCSE exams, as well as being very important at A-Level, and is a skill that continues to be developed into university.
As well as close reading, a key part of my tutoring is to focus on essay structure, which helps students of all abilities improve. For students working at a grade 4-6, adding a clear structure to how they write essays prompts them on what to write next, ensuring they tick off all parts of a mark scheme and they don't feel they are having to 'come up' with what to write. For more advanced students, ensuring they have a clear structure allows them to make sophisticated points, but keeps them tethered to the question.
