About Gerard
I left school at 16 with average grades, and trained as an electronics technician. Only in my late 20s did I go to university, Girton College Cambridge, to study Economics. I'd become interested in Economics through my involvement with trades unions at work. The importance of understanding economic models in the modern world, especially in democratic societies cannot be understated. There are many competing models which are used to interpret the situation and predict the outcomes different policies. To make rational choices we need to understand the models and their underlying assumptions.
