About Kate
The subtle skill of reordering can utterly transform the way your message is communicated.
I'm a teacher of English, Philosophy and Theology with a decade of experience working with A-level and university undergraduate students. I know the UK university application system in depth, and have a good knowledge of certain specialised application/ interview processes such as is required for Oxbridge applications.

First session:
This is an opportunity to work out together what you need, want, what your goals are and what kind of teaching you engage with best (are you happy reading long texts, do you absorb information better by video etc)
A typical session:
This will depend on your specific requirements, but here's an example.
- We read through a personal statement draft which is just notes.
- We experiment with the order, highlight what's most important, note what's missing, and settle on an overall structure.
- We look over examples of past successful and unsuccessful applicants, and discuss and note down what works and doesn't work.
- I set you a task based on these discoveries (eg, take 8 mins to write out this note from your draft in sentence-form, and include the details we just discussed).
- We review the task: I highlight positives and what could be improved on.
- I set you a manageable, timed task (following what we've covered) to complete before next session.
