About Thomas
I'm a third year PhD student whose primary focus is on teaching and I enjoy inspiring people to take maths further.
I've previously taught courses at Edinburgh University including Introduction to Algorithms, Game Theory, Discrete Maths, Probability and Data Structures. I've previously tutored courses including Number Theory, Real Analysis, Group Theory and Logic.
I've also been involved in marking and assessment so I know not only how to teach but also what markers are looking for on the exam. I've previously marked STEP admission papers as well as having marked in all the courses I've taught.
In my spare time I voulenteer in science outreach, aiming too encourage those from diverse backgrounds to engage with Science and also Oxbridge. As part of this I show how great maths can be, which is also a crucial part of my teaching.

I am a big believer in learning by doing and focus on helping students transfer their knowledge between problems and recognize common approaches. I am very flexible on lesson length, with options tailored around your approach to solving problems.
My background is in pure mathematics, with specialization in combinatorics, logic and probability. I enjoy teaching lots of pure topics including group theory and analysis. I currently study a PhD in Algorithmic Game Theory and teach topics in computer science.
I mainly tutor those studying for Oxbridge entry exams or interviews and students on undergraduate or masters level courses.
