About Akash
In 2016 I graduated from my undergraduate degree in Bioengineering (BEng) at Imperial College with 1st class honours, following this I then completed my Masters degree in Tissue Engineering with distinction. During my time at Imperial, I worked with GB gold medallists and world reputed scientists- achieving national and international successes for my efforts.
I am currently continuing my studies at the University of Cambridge for a PhD in Sensor Technologies. My current research focus is developing the next generation of diagnostic technologies so we can identify viral infections more easily. My work also has international links with centres in South Africa, this work focuses on the detection of HIV and Hepatitis B in a lower income setting.
I have six years teaching experience with focuses on maths and science. I have also worked as a graduate supervisor for a variety of courses within Cambridge and am confident in my ability to teach to university standard. In addition to this, I have past experience working with children with special needs, including autism, ADHD, non-verbal communication, and physical disabilities.
I personalise each session to the tutee's needs and will aim to teach my tutees not only the subjects but also how to learn concepts in their own way. I believe in engaging the interest of the tutee in the subject beyond the syllabus and develop skills such as lateral and critical thinking.
