About Dean
I am a retired Business Architect from a fortune 50 company, I am a college graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Biology, and a Math minor. During the summer between my 8th grade graduation and my freshmen year in High School, I spent two weeks at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va tutoring my older brother and his class mates in Math. My freshman year of High School I received a "B" in Algebra because I didn't apply myself. After that I receives all A's in Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
Virtually every kid I tutored was getting D's and F's when they came to me for help, and most of them ended up with straight A's, with the occasional B. Throughout high school, college, and beyond I continued tutoring kids in Math, focussing on the most critical years (3rd-8th grades) do to my well proven belief that if A child can develop a strong Mathematical foundation during grades 3-6, then build upon that foundation in grades 7-8, they will be successful in any Math from that point forward. I challenge you to challenge me to make good on this statement!

I go back to the very basics of simple multiplication and division and build from there (I generally don't have to teach addition and subtraction). In short order your 3rd grader will be able to complete 100 multiplication problems in 5 minutes with no errors (and I reward them for doing so). I start there because it builds basic, but powerful mental Math skills that are foundational to everything else they'll ever do with Mathematics! Depending on how early I catch them, by the end of their 8th grade year they will be capable of scoring at the 11th or 12th grade level on basic standardized Math Grade Equivalency Tests. I scored beyond High School near the end of 8th grade.
