About James Paul
I graduated from the University of Leeds in Business Law and got my CELTA ESL teaching certificate in 2012. I have been teaching English, mainly to primary and secondary students, in a variety of settings since 2003. Most of my teaching experience was gained in Taiwan, and I have taught (and continue to teach) online for two years. I can work with any materials and also create my own. My experience has been mostly as a grammar teacher, but I have also taught reading comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking. I have a lot of experience with students from Asia, especially those from Taiwan, the education system of which I have a wealth of experience with.

I am 48 years old and from the UK. I can teach in both US and British accents. My lessons are based on student needs, and I am well-versed in English grammar, especially at elementary school level. Lesson structure depends on the skill area being taught. As an example, a grammar lesson would begin by showing multiple examples of a particular grammatical rule, eliciting from the student what the examples have in common, reinforcing with further examples, explaining meaning and how parts of a given sentence relate to one another, giving practice in question and sentence building, and finally giving a quiz to test knowledge.

James is an outstanding teacher, and we were fortunate to have him teaching our daughters for two years (2019-2021).
James put together an excellent course works for the kids. His classes significantly improved their English levels and helped them to move to an international school in Taiwan.
