About Hazel
I completed my CELTA last year to teach English as a foreign language, and have tutored foreign speakers to proficiency in spoken and written aspects since. I tutored French to both GCSE and A-Level students a few years ago, both respectively getting A grades. I am half-French and completed a first year of French at the University of Leeds. I have a First Class Degree in Literature. I am willing to teach students struggling with English in school too, as I am passionate about literature and creative writing. I became the Young Poet Laureate for Shropshire in 2015, and have been working for the past few years as a freelance writer and editor.

I will be teaching according to the preferred learning method of my students. I prefer a more practical engagement, particularly in languages, to encourage second language use in social situations. I like to encourage participation in all parts of a lesson, using a more student-focused lesson plan.

Hazel is a friendly, intelligent young woman, with an ability to transmit her passion and energy to the people that surround her. She is bilingual in English and French and her capability to excel in multiple fields make her a really well-rounded person. I have not seen her teaching/tuition work, so I cannot comment on that area of her work, but from knowing her broad knowledge and her capability to interact with people, I am confident she would be both inspiring and supportive.
