About Tahira
I have completed a 120 hour CELTA course at Stafford House International where my teaching was assessed for four months. I greatly enjoyed this experience and I am eager to continue teaching!
I have completed over 20 hours of ESL lessons with a 15 year old pupil who wanted to reduce his accent and improve his speaking skills. I targeted the sounds he struggled to produce and through assessing mouth shapes, repetition, and listening exercises his pronunciation began to improve. I was so pleased to see his progress, and his confidence in speaking greatly improved.
I am a postgraduate student of English at Oxford University, and I have been through the Oxford admissions process twice. I have experience in writing successful personal statements, sitting entrance examinations and the undergraduate interview.

I completed a 120 hour CELTA course at Stafford House International, where my teaching was assessed weekly enabling me to develop professionally as a teacher. I really enjoyed teaching English as a second language, and have been tutoring since.
My lessons are structured around what the student wants to improve in most, but I also try to include grammar, a reading or listening exercise and a productive speaking activity into each lesson. I also think pronunciation is very important and I aim to target and teach the sounds pupils struggle most with.
