About David
Hi I'm David, a passionate mathematics teacher with over 15 years of experience in teaching and mentoring students from middle school to high school. I have been dedicated to helping students reach their potential and passion for math, dispelling the myth that it is a difficult subject. I graduated from Binghamton University with a B.S. in Financial Economics which gives me a deep background in real-world math applications and learned how to leverage that knowledge while earning my M.Ed from CUNY. Having taught across all grade levels and math contents, I've developed a deep understanding of math's complexities and intricacies and how to use that to benefit students across various age groups, helping them understand and master concepts from basic arithmetic to calculus. I have had the privilege of teaching in both formal classroom settings and one-on-one tutoring environments. This has allowed me to adapt my teaching methods to cater to students with diverse learning needs and abilities, making complex concepts understandable and enjoyable. I have a track record of transforming math-anxious students into confident problem solvers. I believe that every student can excel in mathematics with the right guidance and encouragement. My teaching philosophy centers around patience, understanding, and interactive learning, fostering a positive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I use real-world applications and problem-solving strategies to make math relevant and less intimidating. In addition to teaching math concepts, I also provide guidance and strategies for test preparation and homework assistance, helping students improve their scores in standardized tests like the SHSAT, SSAT, SAT, and ACT.
