About Courtney
I'm a certified elementary teacher with experience supporting diverse learners. I am passionate about helping students build both strong math skills and confidence. I have experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs and understand that every student learns differently. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as mathematicians.
As a current classroom teacher, I bring real-world experience from working with elementary students every day. I understand the skills students need to master, the common challenges they face, and how to adjust instruction to help each learner succeed.
I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Special Education as well as an additional certification in elementary education. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Special Education and Multilingual Learners. I currently teach math and science in an inclusive third grade class.
I am married and have 3 children ages 7, 6, and 1. My oldest 2 are boys and my youngest is a girl!

My lessons are personalized to meet each student where they are and help them build both math skills and confidence. As a certified elementary teacher with experience supporting diverse learners, I use a patient, encouraging approach while breaking challenging concepts into smaller, more manageable steps.
Methods:
I use explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, and hands-on strategies to help students understand the "why" behind math concepts, not just memorization. I incorporate visuals, examples, questioning, and multiple strategies so students can find an approach that works for them.
Lesson Plan:
Each lesson begins with a warm-up and quick review to assess understanding or activate prior knowledge. We will focus on a specific skill through direct instruction and guided practice with examples. As students build confidence to practice on their own, I will provide feedback and guidance. Lessons will end with a short exit activity to plan for future instruction.

As a current elementary classroom teacher, I understand the skills students need to succeed and the challenges they often face when learning math. I have experience working with students with different learning needs and disabilities that allows me to provide instruction that is flexible, supportive, and individualized. I not only focus on math skills, but also how to help students become independent and confident.
Who are my lessons for?
My lessons are designed for elementary students who need extra support in math, who are building foundational skills, looking for additional practice, or preparing for grade-level expectations. I work with students in grades 1-4 and can provide support with concepts such as number sense, multiplication, division, fractions, telling time, money, problem solving, and grade-level math skills.
