• Snakker du dette språket flytende på grunn av din bakgrunn eller var det for eksempel fordi en lærer motiverte deg til å lære mer?

  I speak Korean fluently both due to my native Korean background and also the fact of being certified Korean teacher. I also have a PhD in Chinese which makes my teaching background stronger. However at the end of the day, when it comes to teaching, it is the feeling of teaching away what you know and introducing your students to a new world of culture and unknows is the drive.

• Sitèr en person, historisk eller fiktiv, som etter din mening er den symbolske representanten for denne kulturen.

  King Sejong would be my historical symbol. He is the one who created the Korean alphabet, with the goal that Koreans from all classes would be able to read and write, as Chinese was so difficult to understnad.
  
  My favorite quote from him: "The people are the roots of a nation, and the roots should be strong so as to create a peaceful nation."

• Er det et typisk ord, et uttrykk, en tradisjon eller en væremåte som du synes er spesielt morsomt?

  A new language is a new world :-)

• Hvorfor er det viktig å kunne snakke dette språket, om det er for utdanning, yrke eller på det personlige planet?

  Korean is in the wind, like never before ... The culture, K-pop songs, food and other aspects of Korean culture are booming now all around the world and prior to that did Korean high tech products. There is a lot of exchange between Korea and the world ongoing right now including a lot of studnets are interested to join Korean universities to continue their studies (most of my students).

• Hva er den største vanskeligheten med dette språket og hva kan gjøre opplæringen enklere?

  Korean like any other language is a live being, under constant chnage all the time. The idea is to make a path for students to be able to walk their way in this live changing being, to be able to "master it to the level they like".

• En anekdote knyttet til yrket ditt eller utdanningen din du vil fortelle?

  During my teaching at university, there was a student that did not understand the details of the class, while everyone else was progressing fast. I had a talk with him and decided he needs an extra help, so I gave the student a supplementary class after the main class. While drawing a grammar map, i explained the example sentence in an easy-to-understand way, he got better. The student grade wasn't good, but after several supplementary class, he got the best score in my class !!!
  
  After one semester, he gave me a letter and a small gift with gratitude. I was proud that student graduated with such a great grade from my class. That is the gift of teaching that no materialistic substance can replace :-)

• Hjelp oss å blir bedre kjent med deg ved å fortelle om dine forskjellige reiser.

  I am from South Korea, educated with a PhD in Chinese language and litreature. I am also a certified Korean Teacher.
  
  Beside that I like travelling, visiting new cultures and getting to know them.

• Hva gjør deg til en Superprof, i tillegg til evnen til å snakke flere språk?

  As I said, for me at the end of the day, when it comes to teaching, it is the feeling of teaching away what you know and introducing your students to a new world of culture and unknows is the drive.
