About James
My background is in engineering and construction. I have designed and built residential and light commercial buildings and managed corporate finance. I transitioned to oilfield construction and production management where engineering and math skills were also essential. At the age of 55, I decided to become a certified teacher in order to share my experience and appreciation of math with the younger generation.

My teaching method is broad scoped with an understanding that students learn and comprehend mathematical concepts in many different ways. I stress real world applications and believe that students develop a greater appreciation of math by understanding why and how math skills are relevant. With over thirty years experience in engineering and construction, I can share numerous situations where math was essential to the success of my projects.
