About Nick
I have taught conceptual and advanced physics to students with a variety of backgrounds and abilities. I earned a BA in physics and English from Hamilton College, where a very passionate physics professor inspired me to pursue teaching. I worked with this professor as a guest lecturer at a local middle school; then, I took on high school students via private lessons. After a summer physics teaching program at MIT, I knew educating others was my thing! I earned an MA in teaching from New York University and taught high school physics in New York City. In addition to tutoring, I am a freelance graphic designer. I have lots of creative interests, including illustration, 3d modeling, and music.

My tutoring approach is tailored to each student’s needs and interests. No student is a blank slate, and most people have some ideas about a topic even if they were never formally taught it before. I like to get an idea of a student’s strengths and weaknesses, so I can use the former to overcome the latter. It's important to meet a student where they are, and to learn what is engaging to that student to build upon their interests. A typical tutoring session works best if a student has materials from their class that we can work through together, using examples from their class materials to strengthen their skills and meet their goals. I have experience tutoring students in high school and college physics and math.
