About Kristen
I have always had a passion for helping others. Teaching is something that comes naturally to me, building relationships and pushing students to do their best and believe in themselves. Everybody learns differently, and my goal is to ensure that each student I work with is able to learn comfortably with me. I will take my time to help teach the best way for YOU. I am a graduate from Angelo State University, with both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Psychology. I am certified through the state of Texas in Special Education and ESL, but I have also co-taught math classes at the middle school and high school levels in different classroom settings. I also have experience with the field of ABA Therapy, working with children who are on the Autism Spectrum. I conducted individualized one-on-one therapy with children ages 2-8 in homes and in a clinic-based setting. I became a lead therapist, trained new behavior therapists, and managed a therapy clinic. I am dedicated, passionate, and motivated to build confidence in students to help them reach their full potential.

As a tutor, I take a highly individualized and student-centered approach, blending my expertise in special education and ESL to meet each learner’s unique needs. My teaching methods include scaffolded instruction, visual supports, multi-sensory techniques, and real-time feedback, ensuring students stay engaged and feel supported. A typical lesson begins with a quick review and goal-setting, followed by guided practice with interactive activities tailored to the student’s learning style, and ends with reflection and strategies for independent practice. What sets me apart is my ability to differentiate instruction for students with learning differences, language needs, or both—creating accessible, meaningful learning experiences. I work with students from elementary through high school, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, or English language development goals, helping them build academic confidence, language skills, and long-term success.
