About Yo
Hi everyone, my name is Joseph and I am Canadian! Just like most Canadians, I love ice hockey, but I also love soccer (football) as well. My love of sports led me to coaching sports at a young age. I found the opportunity of being able to guide my players in developing their skills incredibly rewarding. Coaching naturally led to a career in teaching, and I haven't looked back since!

What makes me different from other certified teachers? I have experience going from zero to fluent in a second language! I enjoy sharing the skills and experience I learned along my own language journey with my students.Watching the progression of my students is definitely the most rewarding part of my job!
I also have 5 years of professional experience in marketing and have experience teaching business English. Furthermore, I graduated as the top student in my program in university and also specialize in helping students with their homework and essays.
My Lessons & Teaching Style
The structure of my lessons are customized to the needs of my students. They range from informal, free-flowing conversation based lessons to structured grammar based lessons where we follow a textbook. However, there is one constant in all my lessons. They are fun and engaging. My philosophy is that lectures are ineffective. In my classes, my students actively speak and participate in activities!

Classes can be as short as 30 minutes (for children 5 or under) but classes typically are 1 to 1.5 hours.
Classes are appropriate for ESL speakers of all ages and levels as well as native speakers needing help with homework or essay writing.
I am a certified TESOL teacher also certified to teach IELTS.
