About Ruth
I am a dedicated Violin tutor with 6 years of teaching experience, having successfully trained approximately 150 students across different age groups and skill levels. My experience has helped me understand the common challenges students face and how to guide them effectively.
My teaching approach focuses on systematic skill development. I begin with strong fundamentals such as posture, bow grip, finger placement, and rhythm training. As students progress, I introduce advanced techniques, dynamics, expression, and performance preparation.
I believe consistency and correct guidance are essential for musical growth. Therefore, I provide structured lesson plans and personalised feedback to ensure steady improvement. I also incorporate music theory and ear training to enhance overall musical understanding.
My unique ability lies in identifying each student’s strengths and areas for improvement quickly. This allows me to customise lessons efficiently and help students achieve faster progress. I also emphasise discipline, patience, and confidence as part of the learning process.
Teaching violin gives me immense satisfaction, especially when I see students transform from beginners into confident performers.

I teach violin using a methodology centred on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to cultivate musicians who are technically competent, emotionally expressive, and confident performers. Lessons are fully customised to the student’s abilities and goals, balancing technical skill-building exercises with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.
Motivation drives every aspect of my teaching. I help students set meaningful goals, monitor their progress, and celebrate achievements, fostering perseverance, self-confidence, and a lifelong passion for music. Students learn to approach challenges with resilience, turning obstacles into learning experiences that strengthen both technical and expressive abilities.
Communication ensures lessons are collaborative and interactive. Students can share questions, discuss difficulties, and explore ideas openly, creating an environment of trust, engagement, and personal growth.
Creativity is woven into all aspects of learning. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to develop their artistic voice, strengthen emotional expression, and form a deep connection to the music they play. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice, respect for learning, and consistency, cultivating habits that support long-term musical success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and piano, providing students with a holistic foundation in musicianship that supports academic achievement, performance excellence, and artistic growth.
