About Tayshome
Hi there! I am a math and science tutor with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. I have 5+ years of experience adapting my teaching style, pace, and energy to meet students where they are. I have worked with students of all ages, from elementary to college, supporting both struggling students and those in advanced courses. I love to see students set and hit goals. During tutoring sessions, I like to teach using lots of analogies to break down complex ideas. Honing in on practice problems and putting info in context. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is patience. Patience gives learners the time to fully digest information while allowing me to see if it’s clicking. In addition, it helps establish a standard of excellence while giving the student time to reach it. With clear commitment and communication, there isn’t a thing that cannot be learned.

As a tutor, I am patient and use a lot of analogies to create deeper understanding. Additionally, I take the time to get to know my students so they always feel comfortable asking questions and giving input. I believe students commit to doing their best when they also feel you're committed. Lessons vary, because it depends on what the student needs at the time. I normally have two types of lessons. One lesson where we cover theory and the ideas that make up the content/equations. Or lesson two, where we are doing lots of practice problems that target the content from different angles to build and confirm your comprehension. I tutor a variety of classes, any math before college to college level intro statistics, calc 1 and 2. I also tutor high school chem, general chem 1 & 2 (at the college), and organic 1.
