About Isabel Iris
I graduated with a degree in chemical engineering and was previously a process engineer for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) company for seven years back in my home country. Before leaving the company, I was mentoring newly hired engineers, helping connect the knowledge they learned in university to the industry. Then, I moved to Christchurch last year and studied laboratory technology.

Knowing how daunting studying chemical engineering can be, I like going back to the basics and build the more complex concepts from there. The discussion will be adapted to the student's needs and style of learning. Concepts should be related to practical real-life applications for better appreciation (discussing concepts without application can be boring!). The student needs to understand the why and how, and not just memorize formulas and concepts. Practice is also important to develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, traits important for engineers.
