About Sydney
In high school, I earned a 35 on the ACT, and A’s in both my AP Chemistry and AP Calculus BC courses. I have a passion for math and chemistry, sparked by my amazing calculus and chemistry teachers in high school who both held PhD’s in their respective fields. From them I have learned what it means to understand why a problem is solved the way it is, rather than merely what the answer is.

I will tutor high school students in any and all math and chemistry courses. Additionally, I can also tutor in Latin and Classical Histories. I am a Chemical Engineering and Classics student at Vanderbilt’s University, and as such I have taken academically rigorous math and science courses.
I subscribe to the philosophy that a topic isn’t learned unless you can explain it to someone else. Because of this, I believe that a student shouldn’t memorize how to find answers, but rather understand why they are taking the steps they are in solving problems. I don’t believe a student should be given the answer, but rather be guided to it in order to cultivate confidence in their abilities. All lesson plans are designed according to the individual needs of the student.
