About Kaylan
Hi! I'm Kaylan, a second-year Master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah with a passion for helping students build confidence and succeed in STEM courses.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience with a strong pre-medical foundation, including extensive coursework in biology, chemistry, physiology, neuroscience, and mathematics. This interdisciplinary background allows me to help students connect concepts across subjects rather than simply memorizing information.
I have experience in a variety of teaching and mentorship roles ranging from preschool education to serving as a lead teaching assistant for college-level Bio-Organic Chemistry courses. Before transitioning fully into engineering, I originally planned to pursue teaching full time and completed coursework focused on child development and education. Those experiences continue to shape my teaching style today.
I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing their confidence. I enjoy adapting lessons to each student’s learning style and helping them develop long-term problem-solving skills that extend beyond a single assignment or exam.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual goals, learning style, and current level of understanding. Whether you need support with homework, exam preparation, foundational concepts, study strategies, or advanced coursework, I aim to make sessions engaging, approachable, and productive.
I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into manageable steps while using guided problem solving, real-world applications, and active learning techniques to strengthen understanding and retention. I also emphasize critical thinking, organization, and test-taking strategies when appropriate.
I am comfortable working with students ranging from preschool through college-level STEM courses and enjoy helping students build both academic skills and confidence in their abilities.
