About Ali
I am currently a third-year medical student and a former student (2014-2020) at one of Scotland’s top performing secondary schools. Having achieved a place at a competitive medical school this year, I am able to understand academic challenges from a students’ perspective and would be delighted to assist in someone else’s journey by sharing tips and tricks for their studies. I have a strong aptitude for learning and will be offering tutoring services in Biology and Chemistry (from National 5 level to Advanced Higher level) as well as Medicine/Dental Admissions (UCAT, Personal Statement and Interview).
I achieved 10 A’s at National 5 (2018), 6 A’s at Higher (2019) and 3 A’s at Advanced Higher (2020) and a PASS in SCQF Level 8 Human Body Structure and Function (an anatomy and physiology course undertaken in S6 equivalent to first year of a biology degree). Having completed these rigorous SQA courses so recently and tutored many students across all levels during my time at school, I am very familiar with the SQA curriculum and would be able to provide a range of high-quality resources which I have accumulated over the years. These valuable resources played a vital role in my success as they not only provided me with logical explanations of key areas of difficulty as well as exam strategy/technique which is essential for exam success!

My academic lessons follow a very personalised approach based on the student’s needs. As exams now rely on testing theory in greater complexity, opposed to simple recall, it is paramount this theory is understood more deeply than ever before. I am able to take students right to the foundations of a topic to ensure their knowledge is sound up until the most challenging exam question. I will advise students on how to learn new theory in the most effective way to allow them to apply that knowledge in unfamiliar complex scenarios which will undoubtedly appear in the exam. This strong focus on application of knowledge ensures students are prepared to answer exam questions with ease. Alongside this, I can build on the student’s exam technique by discussing effective strategies (from my personal experience) on how to access marks easily, how to use past papers effectively and time management which I am aware is a challenge in high pressure situations
