About Anthony
I am currently a 2nd year PhD student in Chemistry, my focus is in chemical education. As such most of my time is spent researching and analyzing ways in which educators can teach chemistry most effectively to students. I have been teaching undergraduate college courses for the last two years, ranging from general chemistry to organic chemistry to inorganic chemistry. Prior to being a PhD student in Chemistry I was a Middle and High School science teacher, where I taught students from grades 7th-12th in Biology, Ecology, Anatomy, Chemistry, and Physics. Prior to my time as a teacher I worked as a laboratory consultant for a large health care software company.

I have a very student centered approach to teaching, first I work to determine where the student is at so that I am able to build off of the foundation they already have. In order to help students I then focus on supporting them and helping build up their understanding of the material. I am not the type of tutor or teacher that simply gives you the correct answer so students can be done with an assignment, it is my goal that students understand WHY we do what we do in chemistry and WHY atoms and molecules behave the way they do. I find that helping the student understand the underlying concept is of the utmost importance especially in areas such as chemistry and physics, with this foundation students can do anything in these fields.

Details
I offer 1 free 30 minute lesson. I do offer a reduced rate ($30 per person) if multiple students would like a session together (at least 2 students must attend and no more than 4 total). I do not charge as long as I am given at least 24 hours notice of a cancellation, if a cancellation is requested less than 24 hours in advanced then a cancellation fee will be charged.
